Subscribe to the DAR Today Podcast! Our monthly broadcast is a fun and easy way for members, and the public, to learn more about DAR and our patriotic activities.

Anyone can subscribe to the Today’s DAR Blog. It is a wonderful way to learn more about the DAR.

Why Join? Today’s DAR membership reflects the remarkable diversity of our country—strengthening our bonds of service and friendship. Today’s DAR works to recognize the significant, but less frequently recognized, contributions to the cause of American freedom by men and women residing within North America, and in other countries during the time of the Revolutionary War.

Descendants of these revolutionary war supporters are eligible for DAR membership:

  • African Americans - approximately four percent of the Patriots' numbers were African American. Of the 9,000 African American soldiers, 5,000 were combat dedicated troops.
  • French – French soldiers and citizens aided in the revolutionary war.
  • French Canadian - Over 500 individuals have been identified as aiding the Americans and are listed in the Index to French Canadian Revolutionary War Patriots
  • Jewish - In 1776, there were approximately 2,000 Jews in America.
  • Native Americans - some Indigenous peoples fought alongside the American colonists during the revolutionary war.
  • Spanish - Spanish citizens fought and provided aid during the revolutionary war.

Wreaths Across America

Each December the Daughters of the American Revolution join Wreaths Across America to lay wreaths on veterans' graves to honor those who have served our country to preserve freedom at home and around the world.

The Charlotte Parkhurst Chapter, NSDAR, will be placing wreaths at 2:00 pm at the Mormon Island Relocation Cemetery in El Dorado Hills and at 10:15 am at the Lakeside Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Folsom, California, on Saturday, December 14, 2024. Anyone is welcome to join us in placing the wreaths.

A ceremony will be held at 9:00 am at the VFW Hall Post 6604, 1300 Forrest St., Folsom. The ceremony is open to the public and we hope you will join us.

There are currently 16 veterans buried at the Mormon Island Relocation Cemetery and 700 buried at the Lakeside Memorial Lawn Cemetery. We need your help to sponsor enough wreaths for every veteran grave.

Please help us REMEMBER our fallen U.S. veterans and HONOR those who served by sponsoring a wreath, which cost $17 each, for these veterans. Please note that $5 of each wreath goes to Charlotte Parkhurst Chapter, NSDAR, to help support our service to veterans and active-duty U.S. military personnel.
